Hike along with Jill to Help Families Living with Disabilities Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Author, Speaker, Cancer Survivor, Jesus Follower
In the spring of 2021 Jill will begin to fulfill her dream to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. But, she will not be hiking it alone --- she is inviting you to journey with her.
It may be that your hike is not in reality, but in support of her noble mission. As the grandmother of a child with special needs she sees the value of a special place called StirringWaters. A place where no child is left on the deck but where all children can get into the fun -- regardless of ability.
StirringWaters is an ultra inclusive waterpark designed by therapists and aquatic professionals specifically to give people and families living with disabilities an experience where members of all abilities will be able to get off the deck and into the fun. It will be on the 75A campus ofLake Aurora Christian Camp and Retreat Centerin central Florida and will be a place where no family living with disabilities will be turned away because of their financial resources.
The focus of Jill's hike is to raise the funds to build Evie's Island, a very unique therapeutic island influenced by some of Jill's favorite experiences along Appalachian Trail. Opportunities to help range from sponsoring one of the unique features to sending a one time gift of any amount.
Donations are managed by Lake Aurora, a 501(c)(3) organization, fully audited annually, and a member in good standing of ECFA. StirringWaters is being created in cooperation with the nonprofit organizationRemoving the Barriers Initiative.
